"That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains."
Above quote by Steve Jobs is quite apt for all the effort we are putting in to move to sustainable and balanced cooling for all. While we must look for some pathbreaking technologies, we must also embrace and immediately do what can be done at least effort and almost at no additional cost.
If you have been connected to us on LinkedIn, Twitter, you would have probably seen a lot of data points and content from us on Air Handling Units either from Energy Management/ Energy Efficiency perspective or from resiliency / customer comfort perspective.
Some stats on why we think that the basic premise and path to sustainable and balanced cooling for all starts here!
1. Number of Air Handling Units Analysed- 250+
2. Avg % Energy Saving Opportunity (W/O comfort issue)- 10%-15%
3. Bandwidth of Temperatures- 15%-25% (Narrowing it by 1 deg can release load by upto 12% on the chilled water pumps, besides lowering the load on chillers)
4. % of cases where over cooling is observed- 32%. This is certainly a huge productivity killer besides being inefficient.
We often speak of Demand Side Management when it comes to managing Energy Costs, but almost every time tend to overlook it. That has been the story of Air Handling Units, but it set to change.
